Job description
On-Call Substitute Direct Support ProfessionalDirect Support Professionals are directly supervised by Team Coordinators. The DSP's role is to function as a team member providing instruction and support to people with disabilities who are receiving services from TLC. DSP's are expected to know and understand TLC's Policies, Mission, and Person Centered Principles and how to incorporate these into daily support for people with disabilities. DSP's are responsible for supporting individuals to participate in the full range of activities that make up their life in the community, including those activities both at home and in their neighborhoods and communities necessary to establish a lifestyle in accordance with the persons supported objectives.Responsibilities:Supporting people to be actively involved in their communitySupport in making and/or maintaining relationships with friends and familyProviding support for medical and health needsAssistance in daily living including cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.Assistance as needed, depending on the individual, with physical transfers using appropriate equipmentCommunicate respectfully, in a positive and professional manner.Assistance as needed on individual basis in personal hygieneOccasional on the job driving may be requiredSupport in daily financial transactionsQualifications:Must be at least 18 years old at time of employment.Must have a high school diploma/general education diploma or higher education.Must be able to successfully pass a Washington State Background check * not all convictions are disqualifying.
