Direct Support Professional (DSP)Entry level / Early career position that can lead to a rewarding careerDirect Support Professionals teach, encourage, and support people with disabilities to live rewarding livesBoulder metro area ~ Full - TimeWeekends and Evenings AvailabilityWhat You'll DoDirect Support Professionals play an important role within our organization and in the lives of the individuals we serve. PPCH is currently looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support our clients in a variety of areas. Thrive as a caregiver and each day you'll:Provide meaningful, educational, and supportive services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving community-based services in a variety of settingsSupport an environment where our members receiving services are healthy, safe and valued by others by possibly assisting them with learning and exploring their community and their personal interests according to their person-centered support plan or personal goalsBe assisting our members in services with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care and hygiene or moving to and from a wheelchairComply with all PPCH policies and the rules and regulations of all State and Federal oversight agenciesMaintain respectful and professional relationships with our members receiving services, guardians, family members, team members and other staff membersAttend PPCH team, staffing, and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed or as requestedAnd so much more…What You'll NeedA high school diploma or equivalent is requiredTo successfully complete the required training provided by PPCHProficiency with Microsoft Office suite or other similar software is requiredMust be able to document all services provided in PPCH systems, as trainedStrong written and verbal communication skills with effective listening skills, even when non-traditional communication is usedMust be able to respectfully address issues of health and safety while supporting an individual's choices and maintaining their dignityAble to work and adhere to your schedule independently with little or no direct supervision, holding yourself accountable to deadlinesA current, valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PPCH's driving requirementsBonus Points for HavingExperience working with adults with development or intellectual disabilitiesExperience working within the Colorado Developmental Disabilities systemThe ability to safely operate a 15-passenger vanPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsWork may be performed in a private home or in a public community setting and rarely performed in an office setting and work may be performed either indoors or outdoorsWork may involve physically assisting others, including pushing and /or pulling individuals who use wheelchairs or other assistive devices, transferring individuals with mobility needs, and assisting with daily living activitiesFrequent lifting or carrying of approximately 15 pounds and occasionally lifting, moving, or transferring up to 75 poundsYou will be driving throughout the Denver / Boulder metro areas on a regular basis and driving, walking or standing for extended periods of timeYou'll GetSign-on Bonus!
