Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Day ProgramEntry level / Early career position that can lead to a rewarding careerDenver metro area ~ Full-TimeDirect Support Professionals teach, encourage, and support people with disabilities to live rewarding livesWhat You'll DoDirect Support Professionals play an important role within our organization and in the lives of the individuals we serve. PPCH is currently looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support our day program members in a variety of community settings. Thrive as a caregiver and each day you'll:Provide meaningful, educational, and supportive services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving community-based servicesPromote program members' independence, physical and emotional well-being, and sense of community through a variety of activities such as volunteering, recreation, and community educationSupport members' behavioral needs using individualized redirection and deescalation techniquesAssist members in services with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including personal care and hygiene or moving to and from a wheelchairTransport members between their homes and community activitiesDocument members' participation and progress towards personal goals according to their person-centered support planComply with all PPCH policies and the rules and regulations of all State and Federal oversight agenciesMaintain respectful and professional relationships with our members receiving services, guardians, family members, team members, and other staff membersAttend PPCH team, staffing, and interdisciplinary team meetings as neededAnd so much more…What You'll NeedA high school diploma or equivalent is requiredTo successfully complete the required training provided by PPCHProficiency with Microsoft Office suite or other similar software is requiredMust be able to document all services provided in PPCH systems, as trainedStrong written and verbal communication skills with effective listening skills, even when non-traditional communication is usedMust be able to respectfully address issues of health and safety while supporting an individual's choices and maintaining their dignityAble to work and adhere to your schedule independently with little or no direct supervision, holding yourself accountable to deadlines and expectationsA current, valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PPCH's driving requirementsBonus Points for HavingExperience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesExperience using redirection and deescalation techniques to support individuals with intensive behavioral needsExperience working within the Colorado Developmental Disabilities systemExperience safely operating a 12-passenger vanPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsWork will be performed in a variety of community settings, both indoors and outdoors, and involves walking and standing for extended periods of timeWork involves physically assisting others, including pushing and/or pulling individuals who use wheelchairs or other assistive devices, transferring individuals with mobility needs, and assisting with daily living activitiesWork involves transporting program members throughout the Denver metro area each day, including driving wheelchair-accessible passenger vansFrequent lifting or carrying of approximately 15 pounds and occasional lifting, moving, or transferring of up to 75 poundsYou'll GetSign-on Bonus!
