About the Role:
Transitions Day Support Services in Warsaw, VA is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional I to join their team. Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and personal support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)
Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility
Implement individualized support plans and document progress accurately
Facilitate community integration, social skills development, and recreational activities
Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care team members
Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all individuals served
Respond appropriately to behavioral support needs and crisis situations
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Patient, empathetic, and committed to person-centered care
Ability to pass a background check and meet state compliance requirements
