Direct Support Professional$1,000 Sign-On BonusLocation: Cedar Rapids, Marion & Hiawatha, IA, area. Company: To The Rescue Schedule: Full-Time & Part-Time | Multiple Shifts AvailableAvailable Shifts May Include:2:00 PM–10:00 PM10:00 PM–9:00 AM9:00 AM–2:00 PM weekendsAdditional schedules may vary by location and individual support needsAbout The RoleTo The Rescue is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with disabilities in our Community Living Homes and residential settings throughout the Cedar Rapids area.As a DSP, you'll help individuals with their everyday routines, teach and reinforce life skills, and support them in reaching their personal goals. From cooking meals and grocery shopping to going to a movie, attending a ball game, or exploring the community, you'll help create opportunities for individuals to live active, fulfilling lives.No previous experience in human services? No problem. We provide paid training to help you build the skills you need to succeed.What You'll DoDaily Support & Life SkillsProvide individualized support based on each person's needs, goals, and support planAssist with daily routines and activities within the homeHelp individuals develop and practice life skills that promote greater independenceSupport meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, household tasks, and other everyday activitiesEncourage individuals to make choices and participate in their own routines and goalsCommunity & RecreationSupport individuals in participating in activities they enjoyHelp individuals get involved in their community through outings, events, and recreational activitiesAccompany individuals to activities such as movies, sporting events, plays, parks, shopping, and other community destinationsProvide transportation as neededHealth, Safety & SupportProvide appropriate supervision and support throughout the dayHelp maintain a safe, comfortable, and respectful home environmentFollow individual support plans and established safety proceduresRespond appropriately to changing needs or challenging situationsRespect individual rights, privacy, dignity, and confidentialityCommunication & DocumentationComplete required documentation accurately and on timeCommunicate with supervisors and other members of the individual's support teamAttend required training, staff meetings, and professional developmentMaintain a professional and positive relationship with individuals, families, coworkers, and community partnersBasic Requirements - What We're Looking ForPatient, compassionate, and dependableComfortable building relationships and working with people from different backgrounds and abilitiesComfortable working independently and as part of a teamStrong communicators who can remain calm in challenging situationsWilling to learn and take directionHigh school diploma or GED requiredMust be at least 18 years oldMust have valid driver's licenseWhat We Offer$1,000 sign-on bonusPaid trainingPaid CPR trainingFlexible scheduling with multiple shifts availableMedical, dental & vision insurance for eligible full-time employees401(k) eligibility after 6 monthsEducational assistanceReferral bonusFlexible unpaid time offVoluntary benefits, including short-term disability and accident insuranceIND-IATo The Rescue is an equal opportunity employer.
