The opportunity

We're looking for a Director ofBusiness Development whocan shape, lead and deliver high‑impact business‑winning strategies that take OpenWorks’ world‑class technology into new markets across North America.

This is a unique opportunity to own the full business development lifecycle — from strategy creation to winning bids, securing major contracts, and influencing how cutting‑edge counter‑UAS technology is adopted by defence and security customers..

You will be the driving force behind our growth, working closely with end users, partners, and internal teams to turn ideas into successful campaigns and profitable long‑term relationships.

OpenWorks is a rapidly growing business operating globally with a strong reputation for exceptional engineering and innovation.

Our products provide ultra‑high‑performance, real‑time detection, tracking, identification and targeting of dynamic aerial threats. They have been deployed internationally to protect high‑profile military and civilian assets, and contribute towards the defeat of nuisance, misguided and maliciously deployed drones during operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading the creation of business‑winning strategies and campaigns to secure new orders and grow the business in north america.

Taking ownership of opportunities from concept through to profitability, ensuring sustainable market growth.

Leading the development of compelling bids, proposals and customer‑focused value propositions.

Working collaboratively with strategic partners

Representing OpenWorks in formal presentations, expert panels, demonstrations and one‑to‑one meetings.

Travelling as required across North America to engage with customers and partners.

Ensuring compliance with company processes and US/international laws.

What We’re Looking For

Highly autonomous and productive in all areas of business development.

Significant experience in the defense and security sector, with strong understanding of multi‑domain defence applications and counter UAS.

Proven track record of developing successful, profitable business campaigns and sales.

Creativity and drive to seek, identify and evaluate new opportunities.

Commitment to continuously improving business development and sales processes.

Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate complex technical capabilities to non‑technical audiences.

Willingness to travel and represent OpenWorks to customers and suppliers, including supporting system integration activities.

Confident briefing style suitable for senior stakeholders across industry, government and the military.

Strong internal relationship‑building skills to ensure customer needs are understood and met.

Full driving licence.

Ability to obtain (or already hold) security clearance.

Desirable:

Military experience and/or experience working in the defense sector

Knowledge of electro-optics and counter-UAS technologies.

Engineering degree or equivalent experience

Existing relationships with leading authorities and industry integrators.
