Job description
Director, Finance & Operations | Nonprofit Organization | Boston
A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Director, Finance &Operations to oversee the organization’s financial health, operational infrastructure, HR administration, and organizational systems. This is a senior-level role working closely with the Executive Director, leadership team, Finance Committee, Board, staff, auditors, and external partners.
Compensation: $90,000-98,000
Responsibilities
Lead budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial planning, reporting, and analysis
Oversee accounting, monthly close, audits, internal controls, and nonprofit compliance
Prepare financial reports and presentations for the Finance Committee and Board
Manage HR administration, including payroll, benefits, onboarding, and personnel records
Oversee vendors, contracts, insurance, records, and operational workflows
Support grant budgets, restricted funding, event reconciliations, and cross-functional planning
Partner with the Executive Director on organizational strategy and initiatives
Qualifications
Strong experience in nonprofit accounting, finance, budgeting, audit, and reporting
Experience overseeing operations, HR administration, and organizational systems
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment
Passion for working within a mission-driven organization
