Position Overview
Director – Histocompatibility Laboratory responsible for ensuring laboratory compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards, quality assurance, development of laboratory processes, clinical protocols, and budget preparation and monitoring. The laboratory operates 24/7 and provides services to University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, The James Cancer Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Lifeline of Ohio Organ Procurement Organization.
Responsibilities
Report directly to the Administrative Director of the Comprehensive Transplant Center for business activities and collaborate with the Clinical Consultant.
Overall management of the histocompatibility laboratory, overseeing quality of operations and all technical aspects.
Direct technological staff and collaborate with attending physicians and fellows in solid organ and bone marrow transplantation for design, implementation, and review of technical processes.
Personnel management, ensuring customer service, and leading staff training and evaluation.
Develop, implement, and monitor testing protocols and maintain budget management.
Represent The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center at local, regional, and national levels as a liaison with laboratory and transplant organizations, agencies, and professional bodies.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Doctorate (Professional).
Must hold a PhD in Biology or a related field.
Must hold certification as an HLA Histocompatibility Laboratory Director (as defined by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics).
Must maintain Clinical Histocompatibility Diplomate status (D‑ABHI) conferred by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
