Our mission is to deliver transformative medicines for patients with "hard-to-treat" cancers and immune disorders.
The Role
We're seeking an experienced Business Development professional (Director) to play a leadership role in developing and expanding our growth and value creation opportunities including partnerships, alliances, out-licensing deals and in-licensing and acquisition of novel therapeutics from various sources and other collaborations. The candidate will play a key role in prospecting, sourcing, evaluating, structuring and negotiating deals in line with the company's business development goals. This role will report to the CEO at Pinetree Therapeutics.
Key Responsibilities
Out-Licensing & Partnering: Lead the strategy and execution of out-licensing deals and co-development partnerships with global biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
Competitive Intelligence & Market Mapping: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving biotech landscape, including emerging modalities and competitor pipelines, to guide strategic positioning.
Deal Execution: Manage the full deal lifecycle, including prospecting, technical due diligence, financial modeling, and the negotiation of complex term sheets and contracts.
Strategic Collaboration: Identify and develop high-impact research collaborations with academic institutions and industry partners to advance scientific and corporate objectives.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with internal R&D, clinical, and legal functions to ensure all external partnerships are coordinated and aligned with our internal pipeline development.
Messaging & Communication: Translate complex scientific data into compelling business cases and presentations for external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Experience: 6+ years of relevant biotech/pharma industry experience in business development or corporate strategy.
Experience in Large Pharma (focused on buy-side S&E and competitive assessment) combined with a track record in Biotech (focused on sell-side execution and lean operations) is strongly preferred.
Scientific Fluency: A deep understanding of life sciences, particularly biologics, protein degradation, and oncology/immunology.
Education: A Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in a life science-related field is highly preferred.
Negotiation Track Record: Demonstrated success in closing a wide range of agreements, such as research collaborations, licensing, and strategic alliances.
Mindset: A hands-on, results-oriented professional with the ability to function independently and thrive in a fast-changing startup environment.
Pinetree Therapeutics offers highly competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits, including medical and dental insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) with a generous company match. We are an equal-opportunity employer committed to a collaborative, multidisciplinary, and transformative company culture.
