Our client — a leader in the power systems and utilities space — is looking for a Director of Field-Testing Engineering to own field-testing strategy and lead from the front on some of the most technically demanding projects in the industry. This is a senior leadership seat built for someone who wants real autonomy, real earning upside, and the freedom to run field operations their way — without giving up the technical work that got them here.

You'll set the strategy, mentor top-tier engineering teams, and stay hands-on with customers in the field. It's a rare blend of executive influence and technical credibility — the kind of role where your name becomes synonymous with getting it right.

KeyResponsibilities
\ N Lead and own all field testing operations, driving alignment with customer requirements and project goals
\ N Serve as the technical authority — setting the standard for rigor, best practice, and safety across every field activity
\ N Build and execute strategic field-testing plans that fuel new customer acquisition and support ongoing technical projects
\ N Be the expert in the room with customers — on-site troubleshooting, real-time problem-solving, and building trust that turns into long-term partnerships
\ N Mentor and grow field engineering teams, building a culture of technical excellence and customer obsession
\ N Draft proposals, scope projects, estimate labor/equipment costs, and own project logistics end-to-end
\ N Partner with sales, product, and engineering leadership to translate field insight into business growth
\ N Continuously push the bar on field testing methodology and innovation
\ N
Required Qualifications
\ N 10+ years of experience in field testing, commissioning, or on-site engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role
\ N Proven track record leading teams and managing complex customer projects in the field
\ N Hands-on experience with Omicron, Doble, Megger, and other industry-standard testing equipment
\ N Deep technical knowledge of power systems, industrial systems, or large-scale infrastructure
\ N Exceptional customer engagement skills — you build relationships that last
\ N Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning ability
\ N Willingness to travel to support customer sites
\ N
Preferred Qualifications
\ N Bachelor's in Engineering
\ N Background in power, renewables, or large-scale industrial sectors
\ N Comfort with digital tools for field data collection and analysis
\ N PMP or other project management certification
\ N
Role Summary
\ NThis is a technical and commercial leadership seat. You'll:
\ N Coordinate field testing and commissioning projects at a high level
\ N Manage engineering resources and drive project execution
\ N Play a direct role in business development and client growth
\ N Be the go-to senior technical voice for customers and internal teams alike
\ N Help scale the engineering org as demand continues to outpace capacity — this is a growth story, and you'd be leading a key part of it

\ NFully remote-friendly — work from wherever makes sense for you, provided you can support the travel cadence below. This role is designed as a coordinator/engineering -leader function, not a full-time field engineer post, so your calendar stays yours to manage between travel windows.

\ N Primary regions: Texas, California, Florida, and Eastern U.S. project sites
\ N Per diem covered duringall travel
