Job description

C12 Capital Management is the management company for The Loren Hotels and The Loren Residences. We create extraordinary destinations that blend architectural excellence, refined design, and exceptional service with an environmentally responsible point of view. Our portfolio includes luxury resorts, private residences, and landmark developments in some of the world’s most coveted locations, as well as an environmental non-profit focused on carbon capture. We are driven by a passion for quality, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering experiences that are as timeless as they are unforgettable

What we do:

Origination & Development: We identify, acquire, and develop landmark hospitality and residential real estate assets in supply-constrained luxury markets, generating development fees, residual asset value, and a pipeline of new opportunities for the platform

Design & Hospitality: We operate and grow The Loren brand, driving management and brand-related fee income while building enterprise value through hotel operations, design, food & beverage, membership, and guest experience

Capital Management: We raise, structure, and manage the capital behind our projects, capturing the highest-yielding positions in the stack and earning recurring asset management and fund-related fees across our investments

About The Loren Hotels & Residences

The Loren is a collection of remarkable residences, hotels and restaurants that stand for something more — for culture, for beauty, for community and for conservation. The Loren at Pink Beach in Bermuda opened in 2017 as a masterpiece of modern architecture harmoniously integrated into the coastline. The Loren at Lady Bird Lake in Austin opened in 2023, bringing the brand’s design-forward philosophy to the edge of the city’s iconic waterway. C12 is actively expanding the portfolio, with new Loren developments underway

Position Overview

The Director of Financial Accounting Operations continuously builds & leads the accounting operations, financial reporting, and project accounting functions across a growing multi-property portfolio, including luxury hotels, Villa rental program, and multifamily residential rentals. C12 is in a continuous growth cycle with acquisitions underway and ground-up luxury developments opening. This role builds the accounting infrastructure those assets will run on. This role owns the monthly close process across all managed properties, drives standardization and controls, leads finance system implementations, and serves as the accounting subject-matter expert for M3 in partnership with the third-party accounting support team and onsite Accounting Manager

This is a hands-on onsite leadership role requiring deep hospitality accounting expertise, strong systems acumen, and the ability to manage both routine close cycles and complex, multi-property development projects as well as new acquisition onboarding simultaneously. The Director travels monthly domestically and internationally to properties to support on-site teams, conduct financial reviews, and oversee capital/renovation project accounting

Review property level balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, & property-level financial statements.

Establish and enforce close calendars, checklists, and deadlines across a multi-property portfolio; hold property-level accounting managers accountable to timelines while producing quality information

Ensure intercompany transactions, management fee calculations, and allocations are accurately recorded/reconciled

Partner with property GMs, Accounting Managers, and Head Office Finance Team to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies

Management, Investor, and Flash Reporting

Oversees preparation and distribution of daily and weekly flash reports across the portfolio, summarizing revenue, occupancy, ADR/RevPAR (hotels), and other key operating metrics ahead of formal close

Establishes and maintains flash reporting standards and timelines to give ownership and operations leadership timely visibility into property performance

Delivers accurate and timely monthly and quarterly management reporting packages to ownership, asset management, and executive leadership, including P&L variance analysis, balance sheet review, and KPI dashboards by property

Define, develop, own, and roll-out standard reporting and deliverables at the hotel level for cashflow forecasting, income statement projections, budgets cycle, and reserve management

Develops and maintains standardized management reporting templates across the portfolio to enable consistent, comparable reporting across hotels, Villas, and residential assets

Project Accounting

Serve as the lead project accountant to record capital activity for capital expenditures, renovations, development projects, and new property openings/conversions into the accounting books and records

Set up and maintain project cost codes, budgets, and job cost tracking within the accounting system.

Monitor project spend against approved budgets; report on cost overruns, committed costs, and remaining project funds with monthly capex review with business and properties

Coordinate with internal project managers and ownership on draw requests and construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting – recurring as well as larger project development initiatives

Ensure proper capitalization vs. expense treatment of project costs in accordance with GAAP and company policy

Reconcile Construction in Progress (CIP) accounts and manage the transition of completed projects to fixed assets when essentially completed and ready for its intended use

Systems & M3 Expertise

Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for M3 Accounting Core, including maintaining a global chart of accounts structure, standardized financial reporting, and integrations with PMS/POS systems and other operating systems (BirchStreet)

Lead configuration, testing, and rollout of M3 for new properties or system upgrades.

Own end-to-end system implementation projects: requirements gathering, vendor coordination, data migration, user acceptance testing, training, and go-live support

Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and internal training materials

Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting workflows through system functionality and integrations (e.g., AP automation, bank reconciliation tools, BI/reporting dashboards).

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Manage, mentor, and develop property-level accounting staff in conjunction with General Manager

The role directs property-level accounting managers through a matrixed relationship with General Managers and sets standards and review requirements for the third-party accounting teams handling transactional processing across the portfolio. Success depends on influence across property teams, ownership, and Head Office rather than solely on direct reporting lines

Partner with local Hotel General Manager/Department Heads, Asset Management, Head Office Accounting & Finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and ownership reporting requirements

Travel monthly to assigned properties to conduct on-site financial reviews, internal control audits, training, and system support

Support external audit, tax preparation, and lender/ownership reporting requests.
