Element Staffing is recruiting for a Director of Laboratory Services for a growing gas and laboratory services organization in Houston, TX. This role will provide leadership and operational oversight across multiple laboratory and blending functions, including analytical testing, liquid blending, and cylinder blending operations. The Director will be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day lab operations, improving workflow efficiency, and driving consistent execution across teams.
A primary focus of this role will be optimizing performance within the analytical laboratory, where current bottlenecks and workflow constraints exist. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational judgment, technical understanding, and the ability to drive accountability and continuous improvement across a lab environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations across analytical laboratory, liquid blending, and cylinder blending functions
Provide direct leadership and operational direction to lab personnel to ensure consistent execution of processes and procedures
Drive improvements in analytical lab throughput, turnaround time, and overall workflow efficiency
Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks impacting lab productivity and delivery timelines
Ensure blending operations are performed in accordance with established procedures and quality expectations
Develop, refine, and reinforce standard operating procedures across all laboratory and blending activities
Monitor lab capacity, scheduling, and workload distribution to ensure timely completion of testing and production requirements
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all laboratory data, results, and documentation
Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical and operational issues as they arise
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align lab priorities with business needs and client requirements
Support training, onboarding, and ongoing development of laboratory staff to ensure consistent execution
Maintain and improve equipment utilization, calibration schedules, and general lab readiness
Track key operational metrics and provide insight into performance trends and improvement opportunities
Support continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory and blending operations
Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and operational excellence within the lab team
Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and company safety expectations
Other duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Years of Experience: Background in laboratory operations, analytical testing, or technical production environments preferred with prior leadership or supervisory experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific/technical field preferred
Shift/Travel: M-F, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | On-site
