About the role
Let’s get into the specifics. It’s impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distil it into a job description (which we do because this is a job description), it would be this:
Mews's Front of House engineering organisation is growing in scope and clarity of purpose, and this role directs a significant part of it. The problem is real and specific: how do you scale a guest experience platform to recognise and personalise across millions of interactions, while keeping delivery fast, systems healthy, and teams capable of moving with confidence? Mews serves thousands of properties globally, and the data and distribution advantages that come with that scale are genuinely uncommon — this is a chance to shape the engineering organisation that makes that advantage meaningful.
You'll direct the engineering teams building guest recognition, personalised experiences, automation, role-aware workflows, and joined-up guest journeys — a cross-product area that touches every part of how guests and hotel staff experience Mews. You'll work closely with Product, Design, Data, and other engineering directors to translate a clear long-term strategy into execution, at a moment when Front of House has made quality, delivery rigour, and proactive operational health a deliberate priority.
The problem is worth naming plainly. Scaling personalisation across millions of guest interactions — while keeping engineering teams sharp and systems healthy — requires someone who can set direction, develop managers, and hold a high bar without being the person writing the code. This is a role for someone who has built engineering organisations through scale and ambiguity before, and who can make the structural and cultural changes that let a complex engineering organisation move sustainably fast.
What you would do
Direct the engineering teams across guest recognition, personalised experiences, automation, and role-aware workflows, building clarity, accountability, and a high-performance culture through managers and senior engineers.
Set engineering direction that balances speed, quality, and long-term scalability across a complex, cross-product area.
Work across Product, Design, Data, and other engineering directors to turn strategy into execution.
Raise the bar on engineering excellence, operational health, and delivery rigour — areas Front of House has made a clear priority.
