An established, expanding retail-services operator is looking for a hands-on Director of Retail Construction to lead ground-up development and remodel projects across a multi-state portfolio of freestanding service locations. This high-visibility opportunity offers direct leadership exposure and end-to-end ownership of projects from site due diligence and municipal approvals through opening and closeout.

What You'll Be Doing

Direct multiple concurrent ground-up and remodel projects, with accountability for scope, cost, schedule, quality, and closeout.

Lead site due diligence, pre-construction planning, municipal permitting, inspections, approvals, and issue resolution across multiple jurisdictions.

Coordinate civil and site work, utilities, building systems, prototype requirements, equipment installation, and operational turnover.

Develop project plans, budgets, schedules, and forecasts while identifying and resolving risks early.

Select, negotiate with, and oversee general contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and specialty vendors.

Coordinate design and construction activities with Real Estate, Development, Operations, and executive stakeholders.

Conduct regular site reviews to monitor safety, workmanship, progress, contractor performance, and opening readiness.

Maintain complete contracts, change orders, permits, approvals, and project-closeout documentation.

What We're Looking For

10+ years of commercial retail construction experience, including multi-site or multi-unit development programs.

Experience delivering repeatable, freestanding retail or service locations such as automotive-service centers, convenience stores, car washes, quick-service restaurants, fuel stations, or comparable prototypes.

Proven ownership of ground-up construction and remodel projects from pre-construction through operational turnover and closeout.

Deep practical experience with permitting, inspections, and municipal stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.

Strong command of concurrent project schedules, budgets, forecasts, contracts, change orders, contractors, and vendor performance.

Working knowledge of civil and site development, utilities, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural coordination.

Leadership or senior project-management experience with strong communication, accountability, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to be based in Massachusetts and travel up to 50%; a valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience with automotive-service, quick-lube, car-wash, convenience-store, fuel-station, or drive-through construction.

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline.

PMP or comparable certification.

Experience with Smartsheet, Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar construction/project-management software.

Why This Opportunity

High-visibility ownership of a multi-state new-location and remodel portfolio.

Broad responsibility spanning strategy, permitting, vendor leadership, and hands-on field execution.

Direct impact on location openings, operational readiness, and company growth.

Autonomy to strengthen construction standards and improve project delivery across a growing footprint.
