Job Family Operational Risk About Us

At Transamerica, hard work, innovative thinking, and personal accountability are qualities we honor and reward. We understand the potential of leveraging the talents of a diverse workforce. We embrace an environment where employees enjoy a balance between their careers, families, communities, and personal interests. Ultimately, we appreciate the uniqueness of a company where talented professionals work collaboratively in a positive environment — one focused on helping people look forward and plan for the best life possible while providing tools and solutions that make it easier to get there.

Who We Are

We believe everyone deserves to live their best life. More than a century ago, we were among the first financial services companies in America to serve everyday people from all walks of life. Today, we’re part of an international holding company, with millions of customers and thousands of employees worldwide. Our insurance, retirement, and investment solutions help people make the most of what’s important to them. We’re empowered by a vast agent network covering North America, with diversity to match. Together with our nonprofit research institute and foundation, we tune in, step up, and are a force for good — for our customers and the communities where we live, work, and play. United in our purpose, we help people create the financial freedom to live life on their terms.

What We Do

Transamerica is organized into three distinct businesses. These include 1) World Financial Group, including Transamerica Financial Advisors, 2) Protection Solutions and Savings & Investments, comprised of life insurance, annuities, employee benefits, retirement plans, and Transamerica Investment Solutions, and 3) Financial Assets, which includes legacy blocks of long term care, universal life, and variable and fixed annuities. These are supported by Transamerica Corporate, which includes Finance, People and Places, General Counsel, Risk, Internal Audit, Strategy and Development, and Corporate Affairs, which covers Communications, Brand, and Government and Policy Affairs. Transamerica employs nearly 7,000 people. It’s part of Aegon, an integrated, diversified, international financial services group serving approximately 23.9 million customers worldwide.* For more information, visit transamerica.com.

Job Description Summary

As Transamerica continues to strengthen and evolve its Operational Risk Management (ORM) function, we are creating a new senior leadership opportunity to drive the next phase of our methodology and reporting capabilities. The Director of ORM Methodology and Reporting will play a pivotal role in shaping how operational risk is identified, assessed, monitored, and communicated across the enterprise. This highly visible role will lead the development and enhancement of ORM methodologies, framework, policies, standards, and reporting practices, translating complex risk information into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership, risk committees, and the Board. The successful candidate will build strong partnerships across the ORM team, compliance, internal audit and with senior business and functional stakeholders to strengthen risk management practices, advance reporting capabilities, and support a resilient, risk‑aware culture.

Job Descriptions

Provide strategic leadership for ORM methodology and standards, ensuring consistent, high‑quality execution of risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting across the enterprise.

Own and continuously enhance the operational risk policy, framework, and supporting methodologies (e.g., RCSA/PRA, scenario analysis, KRIs, issue management, risk acceptance, and risk reporting), ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and industry-leading practices while driving adoption of key requirements across all business units.

Lead the development of enterprise and functional non‑financial risk reporting, including quarterly risk profiles, dashboards, and forward‑looking risk insights that clearly articulate the “so what” for decision‑makers.

Translate complex risk information into clear, compelling, audience‑appropriate narratives that support discussions with business leaders, risk committees, executive management, and the Board.

Transform data into meaningful risk insights and actionable information.

Serve as a trusted advisor to Risk leadership, providing expert judgment on complex operational risk matters, control effectiveness, and risk acceptance decisions.

Oversee governance and execution of risk issue management, including identification, root cause analysis, remediation challenge, progress tracking, escalation, and clear reporting of outcomes.

Embed ORM methodology into major business and technology initiatives, ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed, and transparently communicated throughout the initiative lifecycle.

Provide second‑line challenge to process design and control effectiveness, recommending enhancements to policies, procedures, and controls that improve resilience, execution quality, and efficiency.

Own adherence to the Global Operational Risk Management policy and framework, ensuring consistent execution of core ORM activities and effective use of enabling tools and systems.

Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and global ORM counterparts, promoting best practices, continuous improvement, and a strong, risk‑aware culture across the organization.
