Job description
Position Overview
The Director of Strategy will lead Mercury’s transformation to meet evolving customer needs, driving profitable growth and innovation through both short‑ and long‑term vision. The role requires a strategic mindset, strong executive presence, and the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization. The position reports to the CFO of Mercury Marine and is located in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.
Primary Responsibilities
Shape strategies and plans for long‑term vision, growth, and profitability improvement across the Mercury portfolio—including products, technologies, customers, channels, and geographies—and identify and analyze strategic alternatives, prioritize options, make fact‑based recommendations, and execute projects.
Partner with regional, category, and functional leaders on strategic planning, portfolio and technology optimization, financial and business analysis, and business development activities; develop and execute action plans.
Play a key role in the annual strategic planning process.
Identify and develop organic and inorganic growth opportunities, including M&A, joint ventures, and due diligence support.
Conduct ongoing market analysis and competitor assessments, delivering insights on global, economic, and industry trends.
Provide leadership with recommendations to achieve program objectives and execute strategic initiatives.
Participate in special projects across multiple functions such as strategic marketing, business plan development, HR, finance, and new product concept assessments.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field; MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience across relevant disciplines and functions, including multinational organization experience.
Strong strategic mindset, toolkit, and proven results orientation.
Robust analytical capabilities and ability to translate large data sets into concise insights.
Transformational mindset with a track record of delivering change and growth initiatives.
Collaboration and influencing skills to align cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.
Experience working with senior management in a large, public organization, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage complexity involving multiple brands, locations, divisions, and geographies.
Business and financial acumen covering all P&L drivers and cross‑functional knowledge.
Excellent time‑management skills, able to multi‑task, prioritize, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Hybrid work model—3+ days per week in person in FDL.
