Job SummaryThe Director of Student Legal Services provides complex counsel and advice to Purdue University students regarding a broad and varied range of legal issues, describes options available to students, answers questions, and explains a student's legal rights and responsibilities. The Director independently assesses complex and sensitive legal matters, applies professional legal knowledge and judgment, and advises students regarding legal procedures, dispute resolution, and available resources. The Director also provides legal education and outreach to Purdue University students on a broad range of legal topics and oversees the hiring, training, and evaluation of student employees supporting Student Legal Services.**What We’re Looking For: **Three to four years practicing in the areas of criminal, civil and/or family lawMust possess a Juris Doctor degree and be duly admitted to practice law within the State of Indiana at all times during employmentRecord of exercising excellent judgment on behalf of clientsCommitment to the highest ethical and professional standardsPersonal and professional integrity beyond reproachUnquestioned discretion in maintaining confidentialityExcellent written and oral communications skills with diverse audiencesAbility to translate complex legal issues for a lay audience and build rapport with studentsStrong leadership and interpersonal skillsA sense of urgency and responsiveness in dealing with clientsWhat is helpful:Valid Indiana driver’s license or ability to obtainAdditional Information:To learn more about Purdue’s benefits summaryPurdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this positionFLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contributions immediately Who We Are at Purdue University:When you join Purdue University, you join a community that keeps moving forward.
