Job description
Job Overview
We are looking for a registered nurse (RN) to join the Surgery unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center. The role supports a 5‑bed unit focused on providing specialized care to critically ill patients.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards in line with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technology, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control goals.
Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with allocated funding.
Coordinate and direct internal and external audits.
Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth.
Integrate evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Serve internal coworkers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work to ensure quality standards.
Handle hiring, termination, training, development, performance reviews, and corrective action for staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Applicable work experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
Licenses
Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
