Job description
Are you a hands-on, strategic-selling Director-level automotive software sales professional, based in the Detroit area, who has personally developed and closed SOFTWARE (not services) business with automotive OEMs and Tier1s?
Let's take that a step further: do you have proven experience selling embedded automotive software or HMI/cockpit software, graphics or rendering engines, ADAS software middleware, infotainment platforms, SoCs/Compute platforms, HUD/display technology, or development tools?
If you want to have meaningful ownership of our US automotive business and strategic accounts, read on..
Basemark is an AR, automotive, defense and compute & graphics software product company. We are based in Helsinki, with satellite offices in Germany and Detroit, and a collection of experts of around 90 people worldwide. Our market leading AR and HMI platforms for mission-critical environments have inspired us to expand our team!
The Job:
You will own and develop Basemark's U.S. automotive commercial activity, with the primary focus on Detroit-area OEMs, Tier 1s, cockpit/HUD/display partners and software-defined vehicle programs. Your work goes from initial engagement, qualification and technical evaluation, all the way through proposal, negotiation, nomination and production path.
A key part of this is to move opportunities beyond PoCs and tech evaluations, to production licensing, runtime agreements, royalties and broader platform deployment.
The main customer interfaces for you will be OEM engineering, product/program organizations, purchasing, Tier 1s, HUD/display/cockpit partners, SoC/platform companies and other technology partners.
Please only apply if you are mentally ready to:
take over and stabilize the relevant existing U.S. automotive relationships
build clear account plans for priority OEMs and Tier 1s
create several genuinely qualified new opportunities
move multiple opportunities into technical evaluation, proposal or commercial stages
establish credible production licensing/runtime/royalty paths;
improve the quality and predictability of the U.S. automotive pipeline
contribute to a more repeatable U.S. automotive sales approach
Requirements:
7-15+ years in automotive business development or strategic sales
Direct experience selling software, embedded systems, platform technology, or technically complex solutions into automotive OEMs or Tier 1s
Proven ownership of opportunities from initial engagement through qualification, technical evaluation, proposal, negotiation and close
Strong understanding of OEM development and sourcing processes
Ability to work credibly with engineering teams and discuss embedded platforms, SoCs, operating systems, vehicle signals, displays/HUDs, rendering, performance and integration
Experience managing multiple stakeholders across engineering, program management, purchasing and executives
Strong account-development skills, not just existing relationships
Experience with partner-led or Tier 1-led opportunities
Good commercial judgment around PoCs, NRE, licensing and production opportunities
Strong follow-up, forecasting and CRM discipline
