nWealth and Advice Solutions Technology (WAS Technology) is a strategic technology organization supporting Schwab's Wealth, Advisory, Banking, and Trust Services business. nAs a Director, Wealth Management Engineering, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of technology supporting Schwab's high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) client experiences. You will lead multiple engineering teams responsible for delivering modern, scalable, and resilient platforms that enable advisors to serve clients more effectively while advancing Schwab's long-term technology strategy.
nThis role offers the unique opportunity to influence enterprise technology direction, partner with senior business and technology executives, and help accelerate modernization through cloud-native architectures, AI-enabled capabilities, and innovative engineering practices. nPosition Responsibilities:
nStrategic Leadership:
nnnDefine and execute technology strategies that align with Wealth and Advice business objectives and long-term growth goals.
n
nnPartner closely with Wealth Management, Advisory Services, Banking, and Trust business leaders to develop innovative technology solutions that enhance advisor and client experiences.
n
nnShape multi-year technology roadmaps supporting platform modernization, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
n
nnInfluence enterprise architecture, engineering standards, and technology investment decisions.
n
n nEngineering Excellence:
nnnLead multiple engineering managers and software development teams responsible for mission-critical wealth management platforms.
n
nnDrive consistent, predictable, and high-quality software delivery through modern engineering practices, automation, AI-enabled development capabilities, and continuous improvement.
n
nnChampion cloud-native architecture, DevSecOps adoption, CI/CD automation, and platform engineering best practices.
n
nnOversee delivery of client- and advisor-facing capabilities through the software development lifecycle within a scaled agile environment.
n
n nTalent & Organizational Leadership:
nnnBuild, develop, and mentor high-performing engineering leaders and teams.
n
nnFoster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning.
n
nnDrive succession planning, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness across the engineering organization.
n
nnCreate an environment where teams are empowered to solve complex business and technology challenges.

n nInnovation & Transformation:
nnnLead the adoption and delivery of Generative AI, Agentic AI, and emerging technology capabilities that improve customer and advisor experiences.

nnDrive platform modernization initiatives leveraging cloud-native, containerized, and event-driven architectures.
n
nnEvaluate industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive insights to influence technology strategy and business outcomes.
n
n nWhat you have
nRequired Qualifications:
nnn12+ years of progressive software engineering and technology leadership experience.
n
nn5+ years leading engineering managers and large-scale software engineering organizations.
n
nnDemonstrated experience leading leaders in complex, matrixed organizations.
n
nnExperience supporting Wealth Management, Financial Advisory, Brokerage, Custody, Trust Services, or FinTech businesses.
n
nnProven success delivering enterprise-scale distributed and highly scalable applications.
n
nnExperience establishing and executing technology strategy, roadmaps, and engineering transformation initiatives.
n
nnStrong understanding of modern engineering practices including DevSecOps, CI/CD, site reliability, and software quality engineering.
n
nnAbility to guide engineering teams working with technologies such as Java, Spring Framework, APIs, messaging and streaming platforms, relational databases, and cloud-native architectures.
n
nnExperience delivering cloud-hosted, containerized, and microservices-based applications.
n
nnDemonstrated success building high-performing organizations and developing engineering talent.
n
nnStrong executive communication, organizational leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
n
nnBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
n
n nPreferred Qualifications:
nnnExperience supporting advisor platforms, wealth management technologies, or digital client experiences.
n
nnExperience operating within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.
n
nnExperience leading cloud transformation and large-scale modernization programs.
n
nnKnowledge of Generative AI, AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and AI-enabled engineering practices.
n
nnStrong understanding of wealth management business processes, advisor workflows, and client servicing platforms.
n
nnTrack record of driving innovation while balancing operational stability, regulatory requirements, and risk management expectations.
n
nnDemonstrated ability to influence senior executives and lead through organizational change.
n
nnExperience delivering presentations and technology strategy recommendations to executive audiences.
n
n nIn addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
