Job description
Disciplinary Secretary PositionMaize South High School is seeking a Disciplinary Secretary for the school year. The Discipline Secretary assists in completing the paperwork used by the district to document student discipline and attendance issues.A Day in the Life:Work with teachers and administrators to keep accurate records of attendance and discipline to ensure everyone is correctly informed.Assist the Principal to formulate local, state, and federal reports as required by law.Maintain student files to ensure accuracy.Draft forms to be filed with the District Attorney to meet compliance standards.Work with administrators on paperwork for long-term suspension/expulsion hearings so hearings can run smoothly.Input and record computer discipline referrals for accurate record keeping.Assign student Tardy Detention notices for three or more tardies to keep students informed.May cross train to assist the Attendance Secretary or provide front desk coverage.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Maintains confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws.Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the office and building.Perks of Working for Maize USD 266School schedule – work when students are in session along with a couple of additional weeksHolidays off – enjoy a week at Thanksgiving, two weeks around Christmas, and Spring BreakPaid Leave –12 sick days and 4 personal days a yearBenefits – subsidized health benefits along with a variety of other benefitsRetirement - KPERS retirement planProfile of a Successful CandidateHas basic computer and office skills.People skills are important, as well as a positive attitude and good oral/written communication.Ability to multi-task.Ability to work well with others.Has a high school diploma.Office experience is recommended.Must have a cleared background check and current TB skin test.EnvironmentCan be a stressful mental environment while working with frequent interruptions.Generally the job requires 90% sitting and 10% standing/walking.Occasional lifting of boxes, as well as carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Fine finger dexterity is used.
