Job description
Shift Dispatch Materials CoordinatorThe Shift Dispatch Materials Coordinator oversees the daily dispatch of concrete trucks to production bays, ensuring molds are poured efficiently and builders remain consistently supplied. This role requires constant communication with trucking and concrete companies, strong coordination skills, and the ability to work on foot throughout the shift in a busy manufacturing environment.Responsibilities include:Coordinate and dispatch trucks to deliver concrete to the appropriate molds and production bays.Text and call trucking companies throughout the day to determine which bays to pour and to adjust schedules as needed.Maintain efficient rotations of concrete delivery to keep builders busy and minimize downtime.Calculate average daily pour rates to improve efficiency and optimize workflow as jobs progress.Determine the yardage of concrete required for each mold and assign trucks accordingly, using basic math to plan pours.Communicate with concrete suppliers to request moisture adjustments based on pour results and quality feedback.Assist with operating color mixers by loading bags into hoppers and supporting the mixing process.Lead and communicate with truck drivers and builders to align priorities and resolve issues in real time.Perform data entry related to dispatch, deliveries, inventory, and scheduling.Help schedule deliveries and appointments to ensure timely truck arrivals and material availability.Support machine operation and basic maintenance tasks as needed to keep equipment running smoothly.Provide responsive service and customer-focused communication to internal teams and external partners.Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements at all times.Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when servicing or working near equipment.Identify and report safety hazards, equipment deficiencies, and operational risks to appropriate personnel.Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.Lift, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance as part of daily tasks.Stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on feet for extended periods while moving around the facility.Work in conditions that may include dust, noise, vibration, temperature changes, and occasional outdoor exposure.Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and steel-toed shoes.Essential skills include:Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with truckers, builders, and concrete suppliers.Excellent organization skills to manage multiple trucks, bays, and pour schedules simultaneously.Dispatch and logistics experience or aptitude, including coordinating deliveries and driver schedules.Basic computer skills for data entry, scheduling, and communication.Ability to perform basic math to calculate concrete yardage and average daily pour rates.Hi-energy level to continuously talk, walk, and move around the facility during the shift.Capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on feet for extended periods.Comfort working in dusty, noisy, and non-climate-controlled manufacturing conditions.Commitment to safety, including following OSHA requirements and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and steel-toed shoes.Additional skills and qualifications include:Previous dispatch or materials coordinator experience is highly beneficial.Experience in concrete, precast, or a similar industrial or manufacturing environment is a strong plus.A truck driver or concrete pourer with the right skills and attitude can translate well to this role.Exposure to machine operation and quality control processes in a production setting.Customer service experience related to truck delivery, dispatched drivers, or service coordination.Experience with data entry, scheduling appointments, and managing inventory.Interest or experience suitable for an entry-level production lead or supervisor pathway.Basic mechanical aptitude to support machine operating and maintenance activities.Why work here?Employees join a growing organization that is actively expanding its workforce and production capacity, offering the chance to grow alongside the company. The environment includes dust, noise, vibration, temperature changes, and occasional outdoor exposure. There are currently about 50 employees on the floor, with plans to grow to approximately 80 over the next three months. Safety is a core focus, with strict adherence to company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Team members must be comfortable walking constantly, working on their feet for extended periods, and using required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and steel-toed shoes.Job type & location:This is a contract to hire position based out of Massillon, OH.Pay and benefits:The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
