B Class LinepersonWe are currently seeking B Class Lineperson to join our team in the Overhead Distribution Construction and Maintenance Department.Essential FunctionsAssists with construction and maintenance of overhead distribution lines and equipmentIs able to climb wooden poles with fall protection and other PPE on to help perform these dutiesAssists with work from the groundWorks from aerial device installing and repairing overhead distribution lines and equipmentMakes secondary connections at transformersAssists with pulling in new wire and saggingAssists with replacing and setting new polesIs able to effectively cover up to safely complete work on energized lines, and equipmentEmployee will be exposed to hot and cold environments, poisonous plants or reptiles, and stinging insectsWorking hours are typically 10 hours per dayClears work area and maintains safe jobsite conditionsExcavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specificationWill have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performedParticipates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policiesAssists with assembling material on the ground to be installed by lineman, and assists with the installationExposed to traffic and may be required to have training on traffic flaggingOperates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, drills, come-alongs, jack hammer, power tamp, and hand-line etc.)Works around hazardous equipmentWorks near energized parts or equipmentWorks around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chain saws and other equipment with proper hearing protectionAll other duties as required or requested by SupervisorsMinimum Requirements:Must have two years of experience in the tradeMust have experience climbing wooden polesMust be able to safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick trucksMust be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of timeMust be able to work efficiently and effectively from heightsMust be able to meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket truck as identified by truck manufacturerMust be able to follow directions, work safely & productivelyMust have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight (8) or ten (10) hour day according to the scheduleMust be able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out workMust have a valid Driver’s licenseCurrent CDL preferred or willingness to receive valid CDL within 90 days of employmentMust pass a background check and pass a motor vehicle records checkMust be able to pass a DOT physical in order to obtain a DOT medical cardMust be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of timeMust be able to wear necessary PPE as required by company policyMust be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a dayMust be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, coldMust be able to traverse various terrainsMust be able to communicate with othersMust be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasksMust be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis, and up to 10 pounds on a continuous basisMust have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and toolsMust have transportation to and from the show up locationMust be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm workMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug screenMust be able to pass a background checkQualificationsHigh School or better.Associates or better preferred.Class A CDL required.1-2 years: Lineman ExperienceEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
