Job description

Job TitleThis position involves skilled work maintaining and repairing equipment related to water distribution infrastructure and reuse systems.Primary DutiesThe primary duties include maintaining and calibrating meter testing equipment, performing routine maintenance on fire hydrants, locating and marking underground utilities, troubleshooting for leaks, installing water service mains and reuse lines, operating heavy and light equipment, surveying irrigation water customers, performing heavy manual labor, and more.Minimum QualificationsThe minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, no experience required but some experience in water field and/or performing heavy manual labor is preferred, obtaining Class "3" distribution certification within one year of hire, obtaining a commercial learners permit for Class "B" Commercial Florida Driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements within 90 days from date of hire, obtaining Class "B" Commercial Florida Driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements within 180 days from date of hire, obtaining FEMA IS100 and IS700 within six months from date of employment, and holding a valid Florida Driver's License.Essential Physical Functions & Environmental ConditionsThe essential physical functions include continual light work and occasional heavy work, ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds, frequent walking and standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, and bending, good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination, good eyesight, hearing, and speech, regular driving of vehicle, and ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE). The work environment involves working outside sometimes in adverse environmental conditions, exposure to construction and water/wastewater site hazards, traffic, and moving machinery, working with high voltage equipment, heights and below ground level conditions.
