Since every duty associated with this position may not be described herein, employees may be required to perform duties not specifically spelled out in the job description.Job Class Code: 7628 - Position Type: HourlyJob Type: Classified - Pay Grade*: G 03(*salary calculations are based on verified education and related experience levels)Reports To: Superintendent's Designee - Supervises: N/AWork Calendar Name: 12 month hourly FT - Days in work calendar: 251JOB SUMMARYPerform routine grounds maintenance duties.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerform routine grounds maintenance duties as directed.Prune and trim trees, hedges, shrubs, and boundary fences as directed.Operate hedge trimmer, hand and power tools and snow removal equipment; make routine adjustments and minor repairs to equipment.Remove trash from grounds and sweep walkways after grounds work is complete.Assist in snow and ice removal from parking lots.Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency.Performs other duties as assigned.Maintains regular attendance.KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIESKNOWLEDGE OF:Operation of hand and power tools and equipment used in groundskeeping.Basic grounds maintenance procedures including mowing, edging, raking and trimming.Understand and operate equipment and materials used in groundskeeping work.Health and safety regulationsABILITY TO:Perform general grounds maintenance duties including mowing, edging and trimming.Perform routine and semi-skilled grounds maintenance duties.Lift heavy objects.Use a variety of tools and machines utilized in the basic trade.Safely operate power equipment.Perform heavy physical labor.Mow, edge, water, weed, fertilize, rake and cultivate lawns and athletic fields.QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:High school diploma or G.E.D. CertificateLicenses or Certifications:N/ASpecial Requirements: N/APHYSICAL DEMANDSWork is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. · Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. · Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weightsRequires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.The Fayette County Board of Education is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
