POSITION SUMMARY:
nTimber Products is looking for a Division Controller to manager the financial reporting and accounting systems for Timber Products while complying with Company accounting policies and procedures. In this hands-on yet high-impact role, you'll drive accurate financial reporting, enhance costing and controls in a manufacturing environment, and provide actionable insights that optimize performance and support our continued growth.
nSelected candidate must be able to work fulltime onsite in the Medford area. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
nMAJOR TASKS:
nnnServe as a trusted business partner to Operations and Sales management, delivering financial analysis and guidance to inform decisions, improving efficiency, and achieve financial objectives.
n
nnLead the monthly/period-end close process: prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, generate financial statements, and produce operating statistical reports with accuracy and timeliness.
n
nnOversee and continuously improve financial processes, procedures, and internal controls—particularly around purchase activity, production usage, manufacturing costs, and inventory management.
n
nnDevelop and maintain robust product costing models, standard costs, variance analysis, and related reporting to support pricing, profitability, and operational decisions.
n
nnCollaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning; prepare insightful financial analysis to guide resource allocation and performance tracking.
n
nnPrepare year-end audit work papers, support external audits, ensure timely completion of tax returns and all regulatory/government filings.
n
nnTrack and report key operating metrics; observe monthly physical inventories and enforce compliance with company procedures.
n
nnLead, mentor, and develop assigned team members; foster a collaborative, high-performance environment.
n
nnUphold and promote company policies, professional standards, and a culture of continuous improvement.
n
nnStay current on industry trends and best practices through professional development (workshops, publications, networks).
n
nnPerform additional financial reporting, analysis, and special projects as needed.

n nSKILL REQUIREMENTS:
nnnBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
n
nnAt least 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment (wood products, forest products, or similar preferred).
n
nnStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and solid understanding of manufacturing costing principles (standard costing, variances, inventory valuation).
n
nnAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office suite; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and ability to quickly learn ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus).
n
nnExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
n
n nPreferred:
nnnCPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent professional certification.
n
nnPrior experience in product costing development, standard cost systems, and manufacturing cost accounting.
n
nnSupervisory or team leadership experience.
n
nnFamiliarity with wood products or forest products industry operations.
