Position Description

PCM Services is hiring an entrepreneurial operator to run a piece of the business like it's their own as a General Manager / Business Unit Leader. In this role you will own the full P&L of one of our service lines and grow it into a scalable, process-driven business. You will report directly to the President and lead the unit's leadership team.

PCM is a specialty contractor based in Beltsville, MD, serving commercial clients across Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. Our service lines include electrical, snow and ice management, paving, line striping, waterproofing and restoration, and landscaping.

This is not a frontline customer-facing role. Your job is to run the business: hold your team accountable to PCM's standard operating procedures, partner with fellow leaders to build a business that scales, and work with sales, account management, and estimating to drive profitable growth.

Who we're looking for: A leader. Someone with a solid track record of P&L ownership who wants room to grow into a larger executive role. Who sees their role as a team enabler and is excited to be a key part of growing a business as it scales. Who isn’t put off by having to roll up their sleeves and get a little tactical to help the team achieve success.

What you'll own

P&L and financial performance

Own the business unit's revenue, gross profit, and operating results.

Build and manage the annual budget and forecast, and take corrective action quickly when results drift.

Protect gross margin through job costing discipline, labor productivity, material management, and pricing.

Team development and SOP adoption

Lead the unit's leadership team and hold them accountable for following PCM's standard operating procedures from sale to close-out.

Set clear expectations, measure performance against them, and coach, develop, or replace as needed.

Recruit, onboard, and retain field talent to support growth, including adding technicians as volume requires.

Champion a safety-first culture and ensure full compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements.

Growth with sales and account management

Partner with the sales and account management team to identify new opportunities, target customers, and expand work with existing accounts.

Translate market and customer insight into service offerings, capacity plans, and growth priorities.

Ensure the operation can deliver on what is sold, on schedule and at target margin.

Pricing and estimating

Work with the estimating team to refine estimating models, production rates, and cost assumptions using actual job performance.

Ensure work is priced competitively while protecting margin targets.

Building a scalable business

Collaborate with other business unit leaders and shared services (finance, HR, safety, technology) to standardize how PCM operates.

Identify process, system, and organizational improvements that allow the unit to grow without adding unnecessary overhead.

Use data and reporting tools to make decisions and to give the President clear visibility into the business.
