Job description

DSHS FTAA Forms & Records Analyst 1 – Background Check SpecialistWe are looking for a full-time Background Check Specialist to provide intake and technical support. The Background Check Central Unit conducts more than 330,000 background checks each year for DSHS programs and authorized service providers who serve Washington's vulnerable adults, juveniles, and children. In this role, you will provide technical assistance to customers using our online Background Check System (BCS), including support with activating accounts, logging in, submitting background checks, and adding additional users. This position is currently eligible for telework and requires working in the office at least two days per week. Telework eligibility and in-office requirements may change based on business needs. Some of what you'll be doing:Provide customer support by phone and email, applying background check procedures, laws, rules, and standards to answer questions and resolve issues.Assist authorized users with activating accounts, logging in, and accessing the Background Check System.Guide users through the Background Check System, including navigating the system and submitting background checks.Explain background check requirements and procedures, and refer customers to appropriate resources or staff when additional assistance is needed.Guide customers to online help resources and provide assistance with locating and using available tools.Scan and upload additional background check information and court documents into the Background Check System.Prepare and mail applicant result letters, requests for additional information, and records request materials.What we're looking for:Ability to work effectively under frequent deadlines and changing priorities in a high-volume, production-focused environment.Experience reviewing forms, records, or other documents for completeness and accuracy.Accurate keyboarding skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Experience communicating technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.Experience accurately entering, retrieving, and maintaining information in a complex database or other data system.Ability to pass a name and date of birth background check.Additional requirement: You must successfully pass a proficiency test demonstrating a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (WPM), excluding errors.Who should apply? Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours.Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave.Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours
