In this position
An eDrive Controller Electronics Engineer would be responsible for design, analysis, testing and verification of eDrive inverter system controller and gate drive functionality and reliability. The responsibilities would also include collaboration with cross-functional teams for function and performance requirements capturing, FMA document development. The work also includes supporting eDrive system function verification, troubleshooting, and conducting root cause analysis, and benchmarking.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate cross-functionally to develop requirements for electric drive system controllers
Design and validate inverter controller and gate drive board circuits, schematics, and layouts
Develop circuit function verification methods; conduct testing and troubleshooting
Test gate drive circuits and optimize key design parameters to reduce EMI and improve fault tolerance, protection, and diagnostics
Perform root cause analysis for field issues
Support low-level software development for the controller's microprocessor
Support Hardware-in-the-Loop, High Voltage Lab, Motor Dyno, Vehicle, and EMC testing
Support inverter benchmarking activities, including in-depth analysis of controller and gate drive circuits
Present findings and progress to cross-functional teams and leadership
Ensure product quality throughout the entire design process
You’ll have
Minimum Requirements
Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in Electrical and/or electronics design. (coursework/co-op/internship experience during PhD studies allowed)
3+ years of experience of hands-on or EDA/simulation tools (e.g. Cadence, Matlab, Spice, Saber, etc.)
Even better, if you have …
Preferred
PhD in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics
Familiar with analog and digital circuit design, microprocessor-based control circuit
Knowledge of Power Devices (e.g. MOSFET, Transistor, IGBT, SiC, etc.), Logic IC, High side driver/Low side driver, and SMD passive components
Experience of Power electronics circuit design, such as SMPS design, Gate Drive Circuit design
5+ years of hands-on experience of using electrical test and rework equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, voltage/current probes, function generator and soldering equipment) (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)
Knowledge/experience of worst-case circuit analysis.
Knowledge/experience of Power Inverters and motor control
Knowledge of DFMEA/DFSS and accelerated life test
Knowledge of G8D for Root Cause Analysis
Knowledge/experience with automotive electronics and EMC fundamentals
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take ownership and deliver results with minimal direction.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This position is a salary grade 7 - 8 and ranges from $99,600 - $192,900. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
