Job Description:

Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Computer Science Division that reports to the Program Director – Information Security

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code H1001): High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications: Some technical college courses preferred (CIST 1122, CIST 1401, and CIST 1601). Excellent customer service and communication skills required. Should be able to troubleshoot virtual machines, operating system (Windows, Linux, and Unix), hardware, software, Microsoft Office 2013/2016 applications, cd/dvd burning, and printer issues. Ability to be flexible in working conditions, schedules, and be able to lift 15 to 30 lbs. Open to training and skills development. We also require the following skills: attention to detail, ability to multitask, stay on top of deadlines, fast learner, training skills, presentation skills, reporting/documenting capabilities, and excellent people skills. Experience or certification in CompTIA Net+, CompTIA Security +, Blackboard, VMware, VirtualBox, Microsoft Office 2013/2016, Banner Web, Browsers, and any other computer certification is a plus. Preference will be given to applicants who are current students at Gwinnett Technical College in the Computer Science Division.

Certain positions are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Refusal to take the test or a positive result will lead to separation and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment. Additionally, for any employment offer that includes a required drug test, the test must be completed within 48 hours. Failure to comply will result in the offer being rescinded and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment.

Job Description Summary:

Provides oral and written reports as required (5%)

Performs basic administrative/clerical tasks to support the daily operation of the computer lab (5%)

Carefully listens to student(s) and offers encouragement and support (15%)

Maintains a positive, warm attitude that encourages the student(s) to learn (15%)

Informs appropriate staff about changes in meeting times (5%)

Operates computers, copiers, and other office equipment; performs routine user preventive maintenance on office equipment. Initiates, composes and accurately types correspondence and administrative documents according to established guideline (5%)

Establishes and maintains records/files relating to the program's mission (daily sign in logs, if necessary). (5%)

Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior (5%)

Demonstrates eagerness to learn and assume responsibility; seeks out and accepts increased responsibility; displays a "can do" approach to work (5%)

Shows persistence and seeks alternatives when obstacles arise; seeks alternative solutions; does things before being asked or forced to by events (5%)

Works within the system in a resourceful manner to accomplish reasonable work goals; shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures (5%)

Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately (15%)

Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for work or when absent; observes provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act; observes policies on break and lunch periods; uses work time appropriately (10%)
