Administrative Assistant 1The Division of Elections for the State of Alaska is looking for an Administrative Assistant 1 in Anchorage!What you will be doing:The Division of Elections is seeking a highly organized and dependable individual to join our Region 2 Elections office in Anchorage. This position provides essential administrative and operational support to the regional office and works closely with election staff, temporary employees, and the public. The Administrative Assistant 1 will assist with the day-to-day operation of the regional office, including organizing and maintaining office supplies and materials, supporting administrative processes, coordinating office needs, and providing customer service to voters and the public. This position will also assist with training and supporting lower-level and temporary employees to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and consistently. During election periods, this position plays an important role in supporting the increased workload associated with conducting statewide elections. Duties may include assisting with voter registration and election-related administrative activities, maintaining accurate records, responding to inquiries from the public, and helping ensure the office is prepared to meet critical election deadlines. The successful applicant will be expected to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, manage competing priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.Our organization, mission, and culture:The Division of Elections' mission is to ensure public confidence in the electoral process by administering voter registration and elections with the highest level of professional standards, integrity, security, accuracy, and fairness. The Region 2 Elections office provides essential election services to Alaskans in the Anchorage area. The administrative team supports voter registration and election activities while providing professional and responsive service to the public. This position is an important part of the regional office team and will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the successful administration of Alaska's elections.The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with the public.Ability to work effectively with a variety of employees, including permanent, temporary, and lower-level staff.Ability to learn and apply policies, procedures, and administrative processes.Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative.Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and automated systems.Ability to maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.The benefits of joining our team:This position provides meaningful work in support of Alaska's elections and offers the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team of professionals. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.ORSix months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.Additional Required Information:A cover letter is not required for this position.
