Electric Ground WorkerSouth Hill, VA (plus Chesapeake, Suffolk, Fredericksburg, Hampton, Dinwiddie, Williamsburg, Woodbridge)$24.60 per hour startingGround Workers gain broad exposure to the construction, operation and maintenance of the electrical distribution system and build communication, technical and mechanical skills. New hires attend four weeks of Ground Worker training at the Training Center in Chester, VA, at Dominion Energy's expense, and Dominion provides and pays for CDL training.What You Will DoSupply tools, materials and supplies to journeyman linemenEnforce safety rules and regulations at the worksiteDrive and maintain stocked trucksPrepare equipment and the worksite for assignmentsOperate construction equipment such as diggers and aerial devicesRequired QualificationsAt least 18 years old, with a valid driver's licenseGED or high school diplomaAble to lift up to 75 pounds and carry up to 60 pounds, and work on ladders and hydraulic liftsAble to be on call and respond quickly to electrical restorationsDriving record that supports getting a commercial driver's license within six monthsPreferred QualificationsClass A or Class B CDL, or a Class A permitOSHA 10 or OSHA 30, CPR, First Aid or AED certificationExperience with mechanical or electrical conceptsMilitary, construction or outdoor work experienceOutdoor work in all weather, classified as heavy labor. Willing to work up to 300 overtime hours a year. Class A CDL learner's permit within one month and a CDL within six months.Starting hourly rate of $24.60. Union position (IBEW Local 50).
