Powered by Care.Classification: Non-ExemptPay Rate: $19.00 - $20.00Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.The Meter Tech works under the direction of Meter Foreman and Utility Manager and performs physical activities in support of meter maintenance.Roles and Responsibilities:Meets client and operating company standards related to meter work in accordance with our core valueResponsible for checking the meter's communication with the utilityWorking with energized electric equipment to respond to meter issue for Florida Power and LightServices provided: Setting, changing, or disconnecting the electric meter as well as reading investigationAble to access meter locations at Residential and Commercial premisesCleans and prepares worksites to eliminate possible hazardMonitors and maintains tools and equipment for proper use, storage, and upkeepCompletes all work in an organized, timely manner, within standard operating procedureUses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards and communicates abnormal working conditions to appropriate partiesAssists crew leaders in construction/reconstruction and maintenance work providing meter supportWorks safely around customer houses and private property, backhoes, excavators, and directional drillTravel is required up to 75% of timeSuccess Factors:Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. multiple times during a work shiftAbility to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneelingAbility to understand and follow specific oral and written instructionsAbility to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workerAbility to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policyEnglish usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reportsWillingness and ability to learn additional skillsExperience and Education:Utility Field Experience is preferredPrevious experience working with underground or overhead utilities is preferredAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basisAdditional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required within two weeks of employment.Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.Notes: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
