What You Can Expect

Energy powers everything we do. At ENGIE, we are accelerating the transition to a more sustainable world, and that work starts at the plant level. Our Iowa City facility depends on skilled, safety-focused technicians who keep critical systems running every day.

As an Electrical & Instrument Technician II, you'll play a hands-on role in maintaining the systems that keep our Iowa City power plant operating safely and reliably. Working across electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and process control systems, you'll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, support repairs, and contribute to the continuous operation of a critical energy facility.

In this role, you'll work on a variety of equipment and technologies, including electrical systems up to 480V, instrumentation and calibration devices, emissions monitoring equipment, motors, pneumatic systems, and plant control components. You'll collaborate closely with experienced technicians and operations personnel to identify issues, improve equipment performance, and support plant reliability.

You'll also gain exposure to a wide range of industrial maintenance activities, from instrumentation tubing and calibration work to electrical troubleshooting and equipment repairs, while building deep knowledge of plant systems and processes through hands-on experience and training.

What You'll Do

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment supporting plant operations

Troubleshoot equipment issues, diagnose failures, and complete repairs to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance

Support operation and maintenance of the plant's emissions monitoring systems and related instrumentation

Install and maintain electrical conduit, wiring, tubing, and associated plant equipment in accordance with safety, environmental, and operational requirements

Conduct condition monitoring and predictive maintenance activities, including equipment inspections, thermography, vibration analysis, and other diagnostic testing as assigned

Use the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work performed, complete work orders, and maintain maintenance records

Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, availability, and performance, and recommend maintenance or operational enhancements

Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and vendors to resolve equipment issues and support plant objectives

Apply safe work practices and maintain attention to detail while working in a dynamic industrial environment where equipment reliability and operational readiness are critical

What You'll Bring

Minimum of high school diploma or GED required; technical, vocational, military, or instrumentation training is valued

Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, mechanical, or industrial systems. Technical, vocational, apprenticeship, military, or instrumentation training is considered an asset

Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems in power generation, manufacturing, utility, military, or other industrial environments

Working knowledge of electrical equipment, process instrumentation, calibration activities, and preventive maintenance practices

Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance documentation

Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and documenting maintenance and repair activities

A collaborative, safety-focused approach with a willingness to learn plant-specific systems, equipment, and processes

Experience supporting boiler, steam, turbine, or other industrial process equipment is helpful
