Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Fortiva is currently representing a global leader in high-voltage electrical engineering, powering the transition to a sustainable future. From renewable energy to data centers and complex utility projects, they operate at the cutting edge of the industry.
They build on a foundation of safety, collaboration, and continuous innovation. They invest heavily in their people - offering real opportunities to develop, lead, and shape the future of energy. If you are driven by complex problem-solving and want to lead rather than follow, you belong there.
The Role
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer (Substation Design) to join our client's high-performing design team. In this role, you will lead the charge on multi-disciplinary Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects both domestically and internationally.
You will manage key elements of design delivery across concurrent high-voltage projects, collaborating directly with clients, civil designers, and utility providers. Expect dynamic project variety and periodic travel to client sites to define project scope and translate needs into high-quality technical proposals.
Key Responsibilities
Design Delivery: Lead electrical engineering design for assigned HV transmission and distribution projects.
Systems & Layouts: Prepare physical HV layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical systems, and secondary control/protection system designs.
System Studies: Perform complex HV system studies, including protection coordination, voltage regulation, load flow, and fault-level reports.
Stakeholder Management: Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for utility providers and client owner’s engineers; manage design pack submittals and design logs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with civil design teams to align civil structures with electrical equipment requirements.
Procurement & Vendor Review: Help draft procurement specifications for primary plant equipment (HV transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, NERs) and review vendor schematics for compliance.
What You Bring
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
Technical Expertise: Direct experience in high-voltage (HV) substation design within the T&D sector.
Primary Equipment Knowledge: Hands-on experience with HV transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and secondary protection systems.
System Analysis: Proficiency in conducting load flow, fault level, and protection coordination studies.
Interface & Compliance: Firm understanding of electrical-to-civil interface needs and utility regulatory standards.
Communication & Travel: Excellent client-facing skills; willingness to travel domestically and internationally for site visits and client alignment.

Work on high-impact, global grid-modernization projects.
Fully remote flexibility based in Texas.
Clear career progression paths in a rapidly expanding global firm.
