Job description

Electrical Engineering Lead, Renewable Energy

On-site in Rochester, MN

Our client is a growing renewable energy organization expanding the scale and technical sophistication of its project portfolio. With a strong pipeline of upcoming work and continued investment in solar, energy storage, EV charging, and other distributed energy solutions, the company is looking for a licensed engineer who can become a key technical authority within the organization. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of engineering decisions, influence projects from concept through construction, and help shape the next stage of a growing energy platform.

This Role Offers:

Competitive base salary with bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package.

Exposure to solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, canopy, residential, and commercial applications.

An integrated project environment where engineering works closely with procurement, construction, service, and operations.

A company culture that encourages employees to expand their responsibilities, develop new capabilities, and pursue long term career growth.

Focus:

Take professional responsibility for electrical engineering deliverables and provide the required review and sealing of project documents.

Evaluate electrical drawings, equipment selections, interconnection information, and supporting design details before projects move into construction.

Guide electrical design decisions across a diverse portfolio of distributed energy installations, including solar PV and emerging energy technologies.

Apply NEC requirements, engineering standards, utility expectations, and permitting criteria to produce safe and constructible solutions.

Work closely with design personnel, project leaders, electricians, customers, utilities, and regulatory stakeholders throughout project delivery.

Provide engineering input on technical alternatives, constructability, project cost considerations, schedules, and field conditions.

Assist with troubleshooting and technical problem solving when project teams encounter electrical challenges during construction or commissioning.

Strengthen engineering processes, documentation quality, and design consistency as the organization's projects continue to grow in scale.

Share technical expertise with engineering and design colleagues while helping build stronger internal capabilities.

Skill Set:

Active Minnesota Professional Engineer license with the authority and willingness to seal and stamp electrical engineering documents.

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience involving electrical system design, project delivery, and construction oversight.

NABCEP PV Associate certification or a higher NABCEP credential.

Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code and practical electrical engineering principles.

Working knowledge of design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Helioscope, GIS, and PVSyst.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with leadership, designers, electricians, customers, utilities, and regulatory agencies.

Experience with commercial or industrial electrical systems is highly relevant. Familiarity with systems operating at 480V and below is valuable.

Prior solar engineering experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience supporting photovoltaic system design or construction.

Wisconsin and Iowa PE licensure is preferred. Candidates able to pursue additional state licenses through comity or reciprocity will also be considered.
