Job description

This position is for VSL Electrical, Signing, Lighting, a subsidiary of The Lane Construction Corporation. VSL is a specialty contractor that provides complete electrical, signing, and lighting systems solutions for complex, critical infrastructure.

The Superintendent (Electrical) will schedule and supervise all electrical work and coordinate field crews through directives given to foremen as well as plan and schedule all requirements to control labor, equipment and material costs. This individual will be responsible for the timely completion of assigned operations and stay within budget.

Responsibilities:

Oversee field personnel, daily/weekly schedules, safety, and construction operations on multiple projects

Supervise, schedule, and assist with all aspects of duct bank and electrical work

Provide hands-on training

Provide leadership and direction to construction personnel

Manage field operations as well as coordinate work with other company Superintendents and subcontractors

Assist in On-the-Job training

Take an active role in emphasizing safety, quality and production, leading by example

Assist Engineers with quantities and productions

Coordinate equipment and crews and other job-related activities to maximize efficiency

Attend status meetings to discuss progress and public impact

Perform additional assignments as needed

Assist estimators and engineers during the pursuit of new work including borrow pit locations and selection, plant site selection, value engineering, etc.

Develop and train Superintendents, Engineers, Foremen and Craft Workers

Ensure that ALL resources assigned are maintained, protected, secured and used at optimum efficiency

Protection and enhancement of public relations, company image, and company worth

Understand project budgets and productions to manage personnel and equipment efficiently

Have a working knowledge of all required plans and specifications

Develop Foreman through mentoring

Assist with survey and field layout

Carry out job duties while maintaining VSL values

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

MUST have hands-on medium voltage duct bank and cable installation experience

MUST be knowledgeable in medium voltage phasing that leads to secondary 600-volt rotation and other phasing sourcing

MUST have experience with Installation of manholes, SF6 switches, splicing and terminations 200 Amp to 600 Amp

Must have substation experience

Minimum 8 years of project experience in medium voltage construction

Familiar with Mission Critical site electrical infrastructure, including duct bank, medium voltage power cable, switch gear, substations and associated civil work

Must be willing to travel from Maryland to Florida, east of the Mississippi River

Master electrical license is a plus

Must be a strong leader

Must have excellent team building skills

Must be computer oriented

Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
