Job description
Electrician Position
Candidate will work under general supervision, perform semi-skilled electrical tasks in an effort to ensure a safe environment for students and staff. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Maintenance.
High school diploma or equivalents, and
5 years job experience related to nature of work, and or
Equivalent combination of education and work experience
Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License
Must maintain a safe driving record
Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards associated with job
Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splices wires as required.
Checks and replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other simple elements of electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, tubes, and ballasts.
Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits.
Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
Measures, cuts, threads, and installs electrical conduit.
Pulls wiring through conduit.
Prepare work orders
Assist other trades when needed
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, scaffolding, and/or in tight spaces
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment
Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
Ability to use and care for tools and equipment
Ability to follow direction
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with building staff and associates
