Responsibilities

Assists in the management of the Medical Center Biomedical Program in accordance with local, Federal, Veteran's Administration, and Joint Commission standards and directives. Assists in the administration of the biomedical equipment records for repairs, service, and preventative maintenance program with a multi-faceted computerized safety tester/documentation system called Sentinel. Engages in or oversees the installation, maintenance, modification, trouble diagnosis, and subsequent repair of a wide variety of sophisticated and extremely complex electronics based medical equipment devices and systems used in the health care facility. Provides training and orientation in the diagnosis and solution of problems experienced in technical medical equipment. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. Experience in the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on medical electronic equipment, or similar functions. Experience in demonstrating the ability to provide technical support, manage, monitor and develop schedules of biomedical electronic equipment. Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of biomedical electronic systems or equipment. If applicable, credit will be given paid and unpaid experience.
