Job description
Elementary School Principal at Wilson Creek (PreK-1st Grade)
Demonstrate support for the mission, beliefs, and goals of MSD114
Provide vision and leadership to ensure high-quality teaching and learning
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs
Use student achievement data to guide instructional decisions and continuous school improvement
Support teachers through observation, evaluation, coaching, and professional development
Promote and sustain a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment
Implement student discipline procedures that are fair, consistent, and aligned with restorative practices
Foster social-emotional learning and support systems to address the diverse needs of students
Encourage collaboration, innovation, and shared leadership among staff
Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality staff members
Supervise and evaluate certified and classified personnel
Provide opportunities for professional growth and capacity building for staff
Cultivate a positive, collaborative culture that values teamwork and continuous improvement
Oversee day-to-day building operations, including scheduling, facilities management, and student activities
Ensure compliance with district policies, state and federal regulations, and reporting requirements
Manage budgets and resources effectively to support school goals
Lead crisis management, safety drills, and emergency preparedness
Maintain open and transparent communication with families regarding student progress, school programs, and district initiatives
Build strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and community organizations
Represent the school positively within the Manhattan School District 114 community'
Encourage family engagement in school activities, events, and decision-making
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Qualifications
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative or Principal endorsement required
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience; leadership experience preferred
Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and best practices in teaching and learning
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to build trust, inspire others, and lead with fairness, integrity, and vision
Salary/Benefits
Minimum Salary: $100,000 based on education and experience
Benefits align with district administrative guidelines and Board of Education policy
