Job description

Eligibility SpecialistTidal Basin seeks a competent Eligibility Specialist to join the team supporting the State of Indiana, Disaster Relief Fund program. The position will assist with reviewing applications for those impacted by August 2026 weather event. This position represents an exceptional opportunity to join an expert team to facilitate change and help make a lasting difference. The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for reviewing the affected applicant's application and come to an eligibility determination. The responsibility may also include evaluating previously denied applications for potential appeals. The Eligibility Specialist may potentially serve as a point of contact between the program and the applicant and is expected to provide exceptional customer service while assisting the client in coordinating necessary services and resources to address their recovery needs. Eligibility Specialists will be responsible for meeting goals and objectives as assigned, complying with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements, and adhering to all contractual or prescribed stakeholder expectations or requirements.Job Duties and Responsibilities include:Provide eligibility/case management services and work effectively as part of a team.Contact survivors and gather documents to establish program eligibility.Maintain a high ethical standard to protect client information.Attend meetings and training provided by Eligibility Supervisors/Leads, internal and external.Work collaboratively with Eligibility Supervisor and Program Management to meet program goals and performance targets.Exhibit a strong work ethic and a desire to adhere to strict boundaries and professional ethics in the care of others, awareness of the impact of a disaster on the community, family, and individual.Maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Program policies and requirements.Complete required training.Follow all health and safety guidelines.Other duties as assigned.Required Skills and Competencies:Demonstrated case management and/or loan processing expertiseExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong interpersonal, customer service, analytical and problem-solving skillsProficient in MS Office Suite and ability to learn new software systemsAbility to communicate effectively, verbally and in writingExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesAbility to work independently and pro-actively identify key steps to complete requested client outcomes.Excellent applicant relations and an understanding of local, state, and federal government structurePhysical Requirements/Work Environment:Ability to sit for extended periods while performing work activitiesRemote work requires reliable high-speed internet and workspace to engage with survivors in a quiet settingRequired Education and Experience:Associate or Bachelor's degree, preferredExperience working with FEMA Individual Assistance program(s) preferredExperience working with grant programsExperience in case work or social servicesJob Description Disclaimer This position description incorporates the job's core responsibilities.
