Job description
A Little About Us
MASH Los Angeles is a privately owned, full-service emergency and specialty animal hospital located in the heart of West Los Angeles. We have proudly served the LA veterinary community for years and are excited to be under new DVM ownership — meaning decisions are made locally, with a focus on patient care, team well‑being, and long‑term sustainability, not corporate red tape.
Our hospital is built on collaboration, respect, and a genuine commitment to clinical excellence. We are now expanding our critical care program and are looking for a board‑certified criticalist to help lead and grow our ECC service alongside a strong team of emergency clinicians and specialists.
Located near West Hollywood, you’ll have easy access to beaches, restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife, and everything that makes LA one of the most exciting cities in the world to live and work.
You’ll Never Practice Alone
At MASH, our critical care service is embedded within a fully integrated emergency and specialty hospital. You’ll have immediate access to specialty colleagues across departments, a skilled technician team trained in critical care, and a culture where collaboration is the standard — not the exception.
You’ll be supported by:
Experienced emergency veterinarians working alongside you every shift
Specialty services and cross‑departmental support available seven days a week
Highly skilled technicians with critical care experience and a drive to grow
A leadership team invested in building a world‑class ECC program
A culture that encourages questions, mentorship, and clinical excellence
The Facility & Medicine
Our modern, well‑equipped hospital is designed to support complex, high‑acuity cases across emergency and specialty medicine. As our criticalist, you’ll have access to advanced diagnostics, dedicated ICU space, and a team built to support the full spectrum of critical care medicine.
You can expect:
A rich and varied critical care caseload with genuine clinical complexity
Advanced in‑house diagnostics, imaging, and monitoring capabilities
Dedicated ICU with technician support around the clock
Close collaboration with emergency, surgery, internal medicine, and other specialty services
A team‑first approach to complex, multi‑system patient management
Opportunity to help shape and grow the ECC program from a position of clinical leadership
Scheduling & Work-Life Balance
We understand the demands of critical care medicine and are committed to building a schedule that supports both outstanding patient outcomes and long‑term career sustainability. As a locally owned hospital, we have the flexibility to create arrangements that work for the right person.
Opportunities available for day, swing, and overnight shifts
Flexible scheduling options tailored to your lifestyle and clinical focus
Collaborative approach to building a schedule that genuinely works for you
No corporate mandates — scheduling decisions are made by the people who work here
Who We’re Looking For:
DVM or equivalent from an accredited institution
Board certification in Emergency & Critical Care (DACVECC) required
Residency‑trained candidates who are board eligible will also be considered
Strong clinical skills across the full spectrum of critical care medicine
Experience with or interest in leading and developing a critical care program
Excellent communication skills with clients, staff, and referring veterinarians
A collaborative mindset and genuine passion for critical care medicine
Both seasoned criticalists and those early in their specialty career are encouraged to apply.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary with performance‑based incentives
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
Generous continuing education allowance and paid CE time off
Coverage for licensing fees, board dues, and professional memberships
Employee wellness programs, including access to an on‑site clinical social worker
