Job description

Who are we?

Community Care Veterinary Specialists, in beautiful Gainesville, Florida, is a privately owned small animal specialty hospital in North Central Florida.

Come grow with us while we make our vision of creating a community of supportive veterinary professionals that collectively use their individual strengths to contribute to the care of all pets a reality! We foster a hospital culture where the care for our patients and clients is elevated by the supportive relationships between our local general practices and high quality specialty care. Our vision for a different kind of specialty hospital was inspired by our passion for veterinary medicine through collaboration with our clients to ensure the best possible outcome for our patients.

At CCVS, you’ll enjoy the advantages of a locally owned, well-organized specialty practice without the bureaucracy of corporate medicine. Our team is committed to practicing high-quality, compassionate veterinary care supported by experienced technicians, collaborative doctors, and advanced diagnostic and surgical technology.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include ultrasound, digital radiography, echocardiography, advanced anesthesia and pain management capabilities, and oxygen therapy, all designed to support exceptional patient care and comfort. We offer a wide range of specialty and emergency services including Emergency & Critical Care, Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, outpatient surgery, and veterinary dentistry.

With two Gainesville locations, CCVS provides both comprehensive specialty and emergency care at our Meadowbrook hospital and a quieter outpatient surgery and dentistry experience at our Tower Hill location. We pride ourselves on delivering patient-centered care, strong communication, and treatment options that support a variety of client needs and budgets

Key Responsibilities:

Provide stabilization, triage, and comprehensive evaluation of emergency and critical care patients.

Deliver compassionate, professional client communication and education, including treatment updates and financial discussions.

Maintain respectful communication and follow-up with referring veterinarians (rDVMs).

Complete accurate and thorough medical records, discharge instructions, and patient documentation.

Prescribe, review, and manage medications in compliance with Florida controlled substance regulations.

Discuss diagnostic and treatment estimates clearly with clients and follow hospital payment policies.

Promote teamwork, staff efficiency, and adherence to hospital core values and DVM Code of Conduct.

Assist with mentoring, training, and evaluation of technicians and assistants.

Participate in continuing education, staff training, and team meetings.

Support additional hospital initiatives and duties as needed, including marketing efforts.

Qualifications:

DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary college/university.

Current Florida veterinary license and active DEA registration required.

Experience in emergency and/or specialty veterinary medicine preferred but not required.

Working knowledge of Florida controlled substance laws and pharmacy protocols.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, colleagues, and referring veterinarians.

Ability to manage sensitive client interactions professionally and empathetically.

Proficiency with basic computer systems, Microsoft Office, email, and veterinary software systems (ezyVet experience preferred).

Commitment to continuing education, staff development, and collaborative team culture.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced clinical environment with exposure to animal-related hazards and controlled substances.

We offer competitive salaries with a pro-sal incentive program, a generous benefit package that includes:
