At Merrimack Health , we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The hourly rate range is $95.00 to $125.00.
Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.
Position Overview :
Merrimack Health System is seeking dedicated per diem Advanced Practice Providers (PA or NP) to join our Emergency Department Team. This position comes with clinical responsibilities across the Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill Emergency Departments with a minimum shift requirement (2 per month).
Responsibilities
Provide direct emergency care to patients across all acuity levels in Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill EDs.
Perform comprehensive histories, physical exams, diagnostic ordering/interpretation, and procedures within APP scope.
Collaborate with emergency physicians, nursing, and consultants to deliver efficient, evidence-based care.
Participate in maintaining throughput, patient safety, and quality benchmarks.
Contribute to a positive, team-based environment that values compassion, service excellence, and professional growth.
Qualifications
Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
ACLS and PALS required.
Minimum of 1 year of active Emergency Department practice (post-training).
Strong clinical skills in emergency medicine procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting, I&D, fracture management).
Commitment to patient-centered care, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Schedule & Employment
Per diem employment includes malpractice coverage; a minimum of 2 shifts per month.
Ability to provide coverage across Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill ED campuses.
Weekend and holiday rotations required.
About Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill ED's:
The Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital Emergency Center is a 41 bed Emergency Room that serves 67,000 visits annually. Features of the Emergency Center include 3 expanded trauma/resuscitation rooms, a dedicated area for CT and X-ray, ED Observation Unit, dedicated Behavioral Health team, and a newly expanded Vertical Area for patient care.
Merrimack Health Methuen and Haverhill is a 310-bed full service, acute care hospital with two campuses located in Methuen and Haverhill, Massachusetts. We provide expert care in orthopedics, wound care, women's health, cardiovascular services, stroke, and behavioral health. The Methuen campuses offers inpatient medical/surgical units, advanced ICU capabilities (Methuen), Ob/Gyn, and specialized psychiatric care. Haverhill is transitioning to become a satellite ED on October 1st and will continue to offer 24/7 emergency services including advanced imaging.
Methuen ED: Serving more than 35,000 visits annually, the Methuen Emergency Department is a busy, full-service ED staffed with emergency physicians and advanced practice providers.
Haverhill ED: A community-focused department with over 18,000 annual visits, the Haverhill Emergency Department provides high-quality, patient-centered emergency care, supported by a collaborative and collegial team. Haverhill is transitioning to become a satellite ED on October 1st and will continue to offer 24/7 emergency services including advanced imaging.
All departments operate on a shared Meditech electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring seamless care and coordination across campuses.
