nYour final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.
nPosition Overview:
nMerrimack Health System is seeking dedicated per diem Advanced Practice Providers (PA or NP) to join our Emergency Department Team. This position comes with clinical responsibilities across the Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill Emergency Departments with a minimum shift requirement (2 per month).
nResponsibilities
nnnProvide direct emergency care to patients across all acuity levels in Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill EDs.
n
nnPerform comprehensive histories, physical exams, diagnostic ordering/interpretation, and procedures within APP scope.
n
nnCollaborate with emergency physicians, nursing, and consultants to deliver efficient, evidence-based care.
n
nnParticipate in maintaining throughput, patient safety, and quality benchmarks.
n
nnContribute to a positive, team-based environment that values compassion, service excellence, and professional growth.

n nQualifications
nnnLicensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
n
nnACLS and PALS required.
n
nnMinimum of 1 year of active Emergency Department practice (post-training).
n
nnStrong clinical skills in emergency medicine procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting, I&D, fracture management).
n
nnCommitment to patient-centered care, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

n nSchedule & Employment
nnnPer diem employment includes malpractice coverage; a minimum of 2 shifts per month.
n
nnAbility to provide coverage across Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill ED campuses.
n
nnWeekend and holiday rotations required.

n nAbout Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill ED's:
nThe Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital Emergency Center is a 41 bed Emergency Room that serves 67,000 visits annually. Features of the Emergency Center include 3 expanded trauma/resuscitation rooms, a dedicated area for CT and X-ray, ED Observation Unit, dedicated Behavioral Health team, and a newly expanded Vertical Area for patient care.
nMerrimack Health Methuen and Haverhill is a 310-bed full service, acute care hospital with two campuses located in Methuen and Haverhill, Massachusetts. We provide expert care in orthopedics, wound care, women’s health, cardiovascular services, stroke, and behavioral health. The Methuen campuses offers inpatient medical/surgical units, advanced ICU capabilities (Methuen), Ob/Gyn, and specialized psychiatric care. Haverhill is transitioning to become a satellite ED on October 1st and will continue to offer 24/7 emergency services including advanced imaging.
nnnMethuen ED: Serving more than 35,000 visits annually, the Methuen Emergency Department is a busy, full-service ED staffed with emergency physicians and advanced practice providers.

nnHaverhill ED: A community-focused department with over 18,000 annual visits, the Haverhill Emergency Department provides high-quality, patient-centered emergency care, supported by a collaborative and collegial team. Haverhill is transitioning to become a satellite ED on October 1st and will continue to offer 24/7 emergency services including advanced imaging.

n nAll departments operate on a shared Meditech electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring seamless care and coordination across campuses.
