Department: Surgery - Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC)Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Mid-shift hours negotiable)FTE: 1.0 Full-Time EquivalentPosition Summary: This Physician Assistant position is a key member of the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team, providing clinical support in the emergency department (ED) during peak hours for trauma and surgical patients. The PA will collaborate closely with attending surgeons, surgical residents, of the ACS &CC care team to deliver high-quality care to surgical patients.Primary Responsibilities:Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a providerProvide back up for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providersPerform ED consultations with comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations for the ACS&CC service linePerform procedures and wound care as required in the EDDeliver care to patients of the ACS&CC division that are "boarded" in the EDRespond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care is arrangedRespond to Emergency Department ACS&CC consults and provide timely evaluationsDocument all clinical encounters and procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team membersEffectively partner with other members of the ACS & CC team (surgeons, APP, residents, medical students)Weekday or Weekend ShiftsConduct one quality improvement project annuallySupport the mission of education, research and qualityContribute to care team meetingsQualifications:Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).BLS and ACLS certifications required.Willing to audit or ATLS certified1-2 years of relevant experience in surgical or inpatient care preferred.Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
