Position Overview Seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician for locum tenens coverage at a community hospital in Grundy, Virginia.
The physician will provide emergency care to patients presenting with a broad range of acute medical conditions and injuries in a lower-volume Emergency Department.
Emergency Department Details Annual ED volume: approximately 10,000 visits
9 ED beds
4 Fast Track bays
Physician shifts: 8:00 AM 8:00 PM
8:00 PM 8:00 AM
Admission rate: approximately 11%
Transfer rate: approximately 9%
EMR: CPSI
Transfer Resources Patients requiring higher levels of care may be transferred to regional facilities including:
Pikeville Medical Center
Bristol-area facilities
Johnson City
Kingsport
Holston Valley
Clinch Valley
Clinical Responsibilities Evaluate and treat Emergency Department patients
Manage acute illness and injury
Stabilize critically ill or injured patients
Determine appropriate disposition, including admission, discharge, or transfer
Coordinate with hospitalists and specialty services
Provide timely emergency consultations and interventions
Complete accurate and timely documentation in CPSI
Candidate Requirements MD or DO
Appropriate Emergency Medicine experience
Active medical license meeting assignment requirements
Appropriate DEA and certifications as required
Comfortable working independently in a community Emergency Department
Able to manage urgent and emergent presentations
