Emergency Medicine Physician Opportunity
Hanover, Pennsylvania
A healthcare facility in Hanover, Pennsylvania is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for locum coverage.
Compensation:
$340/hr
Position Details
Specialty: Emergency Medicine
Practice Setting: Hospital-based Emergency Department
Coverage Type: Scheduled night shifts only
Start Date: June 15, 2026
Assignment Duration: Ongoing
Schedule:
10:00 PM 7:00 AM
5 days on / 5 days off rotation
9-hour shifts with 1-hour overlap for transition
Minimum availability to be considered:
2 3 shifts per week
No call required
Clinical Responsibilities
Emergency Medicine coverage for adult and pediatric patients
Evaluation and treatment of emergency department patients
Independent overnight physician coverage from 4:00 AM 7:00 AM
Patient Volume
Annual ED volume: Approximately 31,000 visits
Average overnight arrivals:
1 2 patients per hour
Approximately 23% of patients admitted
Approximately 20% low-acuity cases
Required Procedures
Moderate sedation
Central line placement
Bedside ultrasound
Nasotracheal intubation
Thoracentesis
Chest tube placement
Rapid sequence intubation
Minor laceration repair
Splinting
Practice Environment
EMR: Epic
1 physician per shift
1 2 APPs per shift until 4:00 AM
No residents
ICU available
Pediatric observation unit available
Tele-stroke support available
Onsite specialty support includes:
ENT
Ophthalmology
General Surgery
Cath Lab
Requirements
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
ABEM or AOBEM certification required
Active Pennsylvania license required at presentation
Minimum 5 years of experience preferred unless EM residency trained
ACLS certification required
ATLS certification required
PALS certification required
Additional Information
Estimated credentialing timeframe: Approximately 30 days
Full and emergency privileges available
Travel reimbursement available per facility guidelines
No overtime rates available
