Job description

Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists is looking for a full-time Emergency Veterinarian to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Our progressive compensation model is designed to reward your impact, offering a competitive base salary alongside production opportunities-with no negative accrual.

You’ll provide emergency care for sick and injured patients while also managing hospitalized cases. You’ll assess and diagnose patients, develop and oversee treatment plans, and partner closely with technicians to ensure high-quality execution of care. Your work will include performing surgeries, delivering critical care, and maintaining an exceptional standard of service for every patient who enters our emergency department.

At Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists, we offer emergency and specialty care for dogs and cats in Tampa and Pinellas County. We specialize in cardiology, dermatology, neurology, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, and surgery.

Established in 1982, Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists was the first multi-specialty veterinary hospital on the west coast of Florida. Today, Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care Center has grown to include advanced and specialized veterinary services in Dermatology, Emergency & Neurology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Oncology, and Surgery. With a dedicated veterinary healthcare staff, Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care Center provides 24-hour compassionate care seven days a week to over 13,000 patients annually.

At Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, you will have the support, tools, and resources to elevate your skills. Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an annual PROSAL full-time range starting at $180K/year. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Your Experience & Skills

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) or equivalent degree required

State Veterinary Board License: Active and in good standing for the state of intended employment

Obtained prior to start date

Active DEA license or DEA licensure eligible

Experience in emergency medicine or completion of small animal rotating or emergency internships is highly recommended
