Endocrinologist Position
USA Health is Transforming Medicine along the Gulf Coast to care for the unique needs of our community. In addition to advanced and innovative patient care, USA Health's medical education programs provide training experiences for the next generation of physicians and scientists. University Hospital is the region's only Level I trauma center.
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama, is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible Endocrinologist to join the Division of Endocrinology. Academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Division of Endocrinology provides specialty care for patients with endocrine diseases and disorders. The practice currently includes four endocrinologists and one advanced practice provider. The combined efforts of the division's providers and staff are recognized by the American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Program.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide inpatient endocrine consultation and care, both independently and in collaboration with residents.
Provide outpatient endocrinology clinical care.
Educate and supervise Internal Medicine residents and first through fourth year medical students.
Participate in residency program activities and quality improvement initiatives.
Participate in inpatient general Internal Medicine teaching services as needed.
Contribute to the academic mission of the department, with opportunities for career advancement through the academic promotions process.
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree, or equivalent
Completion of an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology fellowship
S. board eligible or board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Alabama
Commitment to excellence in clinical care, medical education, and academic medicine
